See Why People are Choosing Home Health Aides through CommandCare

As many of you know, juggling work, family, and a social life is hard. Add in being responsible for an elderly person, and it can get overwhelming.

My name is Ihor Andruch, and my Godmother suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia. She has a full-time live-in caregiver. Her condition is so severe, that most of the days I visit her she doesn’t even know who I am.

Throughout the last few years, she has gone through several caregivers from different agencies before we found the full-time aide we have now. The transition of different aides is one of the most stressful and challenging aspects of caring for someone with a condition like my Godmother. It changes her normal day-to-day routine, and can be extremely stressful for her to see unfamiliar faces and hear unfamiliar voices, making her agitated and sometimes even violent.

Conditions like Alzheimer’s and dementia are so unpredictable; no two people suffer the same way. There’s no predetermined care plan for people with these conditions, so it makes it difficult when her full-time aide is off.

This most recent holiday season was extremely challenging because her primary caregiver wanted to spend much needed and well deserved time with her family for Christmas Eve. We couldn’t find anyone to cover the 12 hours we needed and we were panicking. Luckily, I found CommandCare.

Director of Nursing, Julie Cowan, RN came the day prior to the date of service to take my Godmother’s vitals. I met with Julie prior to her taking the vitals and told her that I wasn’t expecting miracles from her – only because it was years since my Godmother was cooperative.

Julie confidently went to meet my Godmother in her bedroom, and within a few minutes, she could do what others couldn’t – take her vitals. It was very impressive.

The next day, the CommandCare Health Aide came early to relieve our live-in.

I expected phone calls, and I expected I would need to make several visits to my Godmother’s home that Christmas Eve – but that was not the case. Everything went perfectly – we had a stress-free holiday.

CommandCare did an extraordinary job with my Godmother – someone I care deeply about. I would never recommend a company I didn’t believe in and trust entirely, and I recommend CommandCare wholeheartedly.
